Hydromulching Enhances the Growth of Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus) Plants Subjected to Drought Stress through Hormonal Regulation of Source–Sink Relationships

چکیده

Mulching the soil with organic-based formulations (hydromulching) is a sustainable alternative to plastic mulching that here hypothesized maintain crop production under drought stress by hormonal and metabolic regulation of source–sink relationships. To test this hypothesis, artichoke plants were grown on non-mulched mulched polyethylene three different organic mixtures, subjected optimal reduced irrigation regimes. Under stress, growth parameters higher in treatments compared plants, which was related photosynthetic rate water-use efficiency. Importantly, mulching-associated improvement explained sucrolytic activity leaves accompanied decline active cytokinins. Besides this, salicylic acid decreased leaves, abscisic ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic impaired heads, associated better photoassimilate partitioning. Taken together, these results help explain hydromulching-associated artichokes water through sucrose metabolism, could be very useful future breeding programs for tolerance.

Effects of water stress on growth parameters and forage quality of globe artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus L.)

Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus L. is a herbaceous perennial plant that could be drought tolerant once established after the first year. To evaluate the effects of water stress on growth parametersand forage quality of this plant, a field experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replications in Isfahan, Iran during 2013-2015. Treatments wer...

Effect of Drought and Salinity Tensions on Germination and Seedling Growth of Artichoke (Cynara Scolymus L.)

Objective: Germination is one of the most important stages of plants growth that affected by environmental stresses, especially drought and salinity. Methods: In order to study of Artichoke germination under different levels of salinity and drought, two separate experiments were performed. The four levels of salinity by NaCl (0, 50, 100, 150 mM) with three replications and five levels of drough...

A study of the effect of dietary fiber fractions obtained from artichoke (Cynara cardunculus L. var. scolymus) on the growth of intestinal bacteria associated with health.

The effect of different fractions enriched in soluble fiber obtained from artichoke using citric acid or citric acid/hemicellulase on the selective growth of Lactobacillus plantarum 8114 and Bifidobacterium bifidum ATCC 11863 was evaluated. Gompertz modeling of Lactobacillus plantarum 8114 growth showed a higher specific growth rate (μ: 0.16 h(-1)) in the presence of fractions isolated from ste...
